A 360-degree assessment (feedback) is an evaluation system that collects feedback on an individual’s level of competency development from multiple sources who work closely with them. These typically include colleagues, supervisors, subordinates, and clients. The collected feedback is used for development and learning.

The 360-degree assessment system provides a comprehensive view of an individual’s strengths and areas for development, based on self-assessment and feedback from others.
Feedback gathered from different evaluators offers valuable insights into an individual’s skills and behaviors. The person requesting feedback first completes a self-assessment questionnaire and then requests feedback from 6–10 other evaluators using the same questionnaire.
Once the assessments are collected, results are presented in a 360 Feedback Report, which highlights differences between self-ratings and ratings provided by colleagues, supervisors, and subordinates. These differences form the basis for analysis and planning further development activities.
It is essential that the 360-degree feedback process is conducted carefully and fairly. Communication must be planned before, during, and after the assessment. Evaluators should be encouraged to provide objective and constructive feedback, and their anonymity must be protected.In addition to receiving the report, the assessed individual should be provided with support in setting development goals based on the results.
